Your web site address requires some
consideration in terms of long range effects. In most cases you can use your site host
address with an alias just as effectively as having your own domain. If your site host is
MilTec Internet Service Providers, an
example would be: http://www.mt-isp.net/"your
company". If your site is fully hosted by your
site provider you can register this address with the various search engines, directories,
FFA's, BB's and site referral web sites. If you are planning on long term company growth from the Internet you may want to consider registering your
own domain. If you see your own domain as a viable possibility in the future, register it
NOW. New domains are being registered at a rate of hundreds daily.
If you wait the possibility of securing the name you prefer diminishes each day. It is not
necessary to publish your domain immediately, provided you have made arrangements with the
server in advance. Most reputable servers will allow you to use their primary and
secondary addresses for registration purposes. You can then publish your web site world
wide, whenever you choose to do so, provided you own the name.... An example of
your own domain would be:http://www."yourcompany".com. The current cost for maintaining your own domain is seventy dollars
for the first two years, plus the initial registry service fees, then thirty five per year
thereafter....
